Lewistown Halloween Parade

Does it feel like a holiday if there isn’t a festive parade involved each year? The residents of Lewistown Borough don’t believe so, hosting this annual tradition. The Lewistown Halloween Parade has occurred for over a century and is still running. Join your friends, family, and neighbors for this fun community gathering.

The parade operates by a non-profit organization and runs on your generous donations. You can drop off any funds you can spare at their account at Kish Bank.

State College’s Cranksgiving Bicycle Ride

No, it isn’t a prank, but an annual charity event to enjoy. Cranksgiving at State College is a relatively new addition to the community’s yearly festivities. However, this isn’t a fun run that has gotten rebranded but a unique event. Bicyclists travel to grocery stores for specific items, which then go to a local charity.

This new tradition gets billed as equal parts race and scavenger hunt. The organization has already raised $2,000 and over 1,000 food items.

Mifflin County Winterfest

Before spring begins again, you must attend the annual Winterfest in February. Here, you can watch live demonstrations, including sled dogs, ice fishing, and other rustic activities. Take the chill off by visiting a warming fire or grab another cup of cocoa. Kids can stay entertained with many onsite crafts and games, too.

Snowshoes are available to loan, while some of the events are weather permitting. Either way, it’s a great gathering to send off winter weather.

The Big Valley Fall Harvestfest

One reason why the Big Valley Fall Harvestfest stays popular is free parking and admission. This huge annual event features lots to see and do with tons of local vendors. Over 50 artists sell their goods here, as well as craft stands. Find unique décor for your home or a handmade Christmas gift.

You can also compete in a raffle for a queen-sized quilt or activities for children. No matter how you experience Harvestfest, it’s guaranteed to be a great time.

Tours and Treats

Do you love decorating your home, but no one sees your hard work? Show off by registering for the annual Tours and TreatsEach year, the community creates a map of festive homes to visit. Whether you spectate or participate, it’s a fun way to meet new neighbors.

When registering, you can even mention whether or not you will have candy available. Your fall holiday display doesn’t need to be elaborate, but unique.
