Annual Events in Lancaster County, PA, for a Spookier October
While there are fun annual events in Lancaster County all year, October has great ones. What better way to bring in the spookier season than with fun community gatherings? From crisp afternoons at a farm to showing off your costume, you have many options. There are events for every hobby and interest, from shopping to family fun.
Below are some of the activities we here at Blackman Bail Bond love attending. Bring your friends or family members with you to these unique public celebrations.
Pumpkins in Paradise
Not all children like to wait for nightfall before they start celebrating. Luckily, Pumpkins in Paradise is both relaxing and a great time for all. This 45-minute ride on the Strasburg Rail Road provides snacks, scenery, and a scavenger hunt. Along the way, you can see the quaint Amish countryside and listen to live music.
Each visitor also receives a small pumpkin and complimentary popcorn. Children attending are encouraged to dress in Halloween costumes for added festive flair.
Halloween Daze & Spooky Knights III
If you plan a medieval-style Halloween costume this year, this is the perfect place. Halloween Daze & Spooky Knights is the final weekend of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. Watch your step while you walk through the kingdom, where creatures have already infiltrated. Take part in All Hallows Eve festivities, including games and treats.
Be sure to wear your costume to the final hours of this local renaissance fair. They say it takes a spooky mask to keep the evil spirits away.
Pumpkin Madness Festival
When there are too many pumpkins around, you start to feel the madness. Pumpkin Madness Festival features every way these tasty gourds can get used for fun. Participate in such events as Pumpkin Bowling, Pumpkin Smash, and Pumpkin Putt-Putt, among others. Smash, throw, or whack as many pumpkins as you can, or eat their pumpkiny treats.
As the sun sets sooner during the autumn season, dusk kicks off at 5 pm. There, you will watch fireworks as well as a huge pumpkin drop.
Spooky Halloween Scavenger Hunt
Even if cars don’t get your family’s motor running, this fun event will. The Spooky Halloween Scavenger Hunt takes place each year at the AACA Museum. Here, the staff needs your help finding all the creepy crawlies hidden throughout the building. Bring a trick-or-treater with you to discover the cats, bats, ghosts, and jack-o-lanterns.
While they search for clues, you are free to observe the many classic vehicles displayed. Plus, each participant gets their family entered into the grand raffle drawing.
A Time of Harvest at Rough and Tumble
As Rough and Tumble draw near their yearly end, they always host this event. A Time of Harvest doesn’t feature ghosts and ghouls but still has lots to experience. Take a spin in the hayride or watch tractors battle it out in a pull. You can also bowl with pumpkins, get face paintings, and see agriculture machinery at work.
